About Us

The Squishy Goose has been a true labour of love for Emily and Aleesha – two local moms and neighbours who became fast friends during the pandemic.

Over the course of many playdates and a ridiculous amount of coffee, they bonded over the idea of bringing a family-focused indoor playground to their community. A place for kids and their grown-ups to gather once again to relax, celebrate, and have fun together!
Emily and Aleesha truly believe that the simple act of play has limitless benefits that can spark joy in people of all ages. They saw a need for a neighbourhood hub, where families could socialize and spend time with one another – and they hope to help bridge that gap, by offering a place to connect and find a true sense of community within the walls of The Squishy Goose!

Meet Our team

Emily

I am local to Cobourg for over 30 years. I met my husband Devin while in Ottawa attending college, and I am now a mom of two – our son is 7 and our daughter is 4. I have a degree in Social Services and Early Childhood Education and worked as an RECE in Cobourg until my youngest was born. I’m sure I will recognize a lot of familiar faces coming through our doors, and I look forward to seeing everyone!

Aleesha

I was born and raised in Toronto (Scarborough), and moved with my husband Ben to Cobourg over 13 years ago. We’ve since had two boys, who are now 7 and 9. I’m a Trent University alum, and my professional background is in advertising, market research and interior design. I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom since our oldest was born, and I’m so excited and grateful that my new job is literally a dream come true.

Ben

I am a native of Scarborough, Ontario and moved to Northumberland in 2010, first to Cobourg and then Colborne. My wife Aleesha and I have raised our two kids here, and are so excited to bring this space to our community! I have a professional background in outdoor education, having previously worked at S.O.E.S. & Camp Kearney. Currently, I work full-time driving accessible transit in Toronto – but The Squishy Goose is my true passion, and you’ll find me there on my days “off”!

Our Cleaning Routine

Introducing Green Frog Tech!

We cut no corners when it comes to safety, cleanliness and sanitation – especially after the last two years we’ve all lived through together.

As a parent, we loved visiting other indoor playgrounds and family centers but always wondered what their cleaning procedures were, and how much of a risk we were taking having our little ones spend time there. When we started imagining what OUR indoor playground would look like, safe ways to disinfect were always at the top of our priority list.

We’ve all learned more than enough about this topic as we navigated our way through Covid-19, but the truth is, we had sourced and established a relationship with the people at Green Frog Tech long before the pandemic began! After exhaustive research, we found just the right solution for us. And three years later, they are still our #1 choice.

Our first priority has, is, and will always be the health and well-being of everyone who visits The Squishy Goose. Our children play here too – and our standards for them are the same for your family.
